Many people face the problem of flash appearance of a light yellow box right before the Google AdSense ad appears. Learn the reason and solution of the problem.

Google AdSense: Yellow Box Appears for a Brief Moment

Google AdSense is one of the best known methods of earning income from websites. Almost all professional bloggers and wanna be professional bloggers use this method. I do regularly write on the subjects of blogging and AdSense.

New AdSense users sometimes face the problem of a light yellow colored box. This light yellow box appears for a moment in space of the AdSense ad. Box disappears on its own after a second or so. AdSense publishers look hard but don’t find any way to stop this box from appearing. Let’s see why this yellow box appears and how to get rid of it.

Why this box appears?
Google serves its ads inside an <ins> tag. Some of the blog themes do define a style for this tag. Usually this theme style sets the background color of INS tag as light yellow. So, when Google ad is loading, you see a flash of yellow box before the ad content gets loaded.

How to remove yellow box?
Because the yellow box appears due to theme style, it is in your control to change this color or completely remove it. For example, many WordPress themes have the following CSS style defined for for <INS> as:

view sourceprint?
1 ins{
2 background: #ff0;
3 }

You can either change the background color to your liking or delete this CSS entry from your stylesheet to remove the yellow flash effect altogether.

Remember that Blog themes define <ins> style for their own use –and not for Google AdSense! So, make sure that you are not breaking your theme by deleting this style. It is recommended that instead of deleting this entry from your CSS stylesheet, you should change the color to the base color of your page content container.

I hope this tip solved the issue for you. Do let me know if you have any question about this subject. Also, read more articles on TechWelkin for gaining more knowledge on how to use Google AdSense and be a master of blogging.

An important Adsense optimization tip which can make your highest Click Through Rate (CTR) ad block to attract the highest Cost Per Click (CPC) as well.

First impression matters and so does the first ad on your blog!
Well, using Google AdSense is pretty easy. Apply, get approval, paste ad code in your website and you’re in the online business! AdSense ads will being to appear on your webpages.

AdSense First Ad: Highest CTR Ad at Highest CPM Location

But harvesting the full potential of these ads requires a bit of more work and tweaking. You need to do a few things in order to optimize your ads and maximize revenue you get from them. Today, I will talk about the importance of the first Google ad in your webpage.

Please note that I said “in your webpage” and not “on your webpage”

What I mean is that I am not talking about the first ad that appears on top of the others. I am talking about the first ad code embedded in your HTML code.

Confusing?… Let me explain.

Let’s first understand why the first ad is important. Google’s ad serving algorithm tends to server high quality ads in the ad blocks that it first encounters in your HTML. This is to say that the first ad will get the highest quality ad (with high CPC etc.) and as we go down the HTML code of your page, the quality of ads will decrease.

With your experience and a bit of study of your click-through-rate (CTR) you should be able to determine which of the ads on your page is performing the best. This may OR may not be the first ad on your page. An ad’s performance depends on many factors.

It is possible, let’s say, that the third ad is getting the highest CTR.

Our objective is to make this third ad the first one –so that we can get best of both world (highest CTR on a highest CPC)

How to do this?
It’s simple. As we know that the ad serving algorithm scans the page from top to bottom, all we need to do is to place the highest CTR ad right below the <body> tag; so that this becomes the first ad block to be encountered by the algorithm.

But sometimes we face a problem. Migrating an ad block from one place to another may mean that the block will not fit in the new place. Let’s say your third ad is a 728×90 leaderboard ad. If you migrate this code right under <body> tag –your webpage design might get distorted because there the ad may not have the luxury of 728×90 pixel space.

The solution
The solution is to shift the code right under <body> tag but make the ad display where it always has been.

Enclose your ad code with div tags

1 &lt;div id=&quot;ad1&quot;&gt;
2 Insert your ad code here
3 &lt;/div&gt;

Now style this div with position:absolute and give it top and left coordinate in order to position it in the place where it has been living all the time before. For example:

1 #ad1 {
2 width: 728px;
3 height: 90px;
4 position: absolute;
5 left: 140px;
6 top: 350px;
7 }

One more AdSence tip: When you will make the div absolutely positioned –the content below it will push upward. So, after removing the ad block from its original place –you would need to place an empty div of the same size at that place. This blank div will act as a placeholder and would keep the content below from shifting upward.

Did you find this AdSense tip useful? Please let me know if it worked for you. Also, it would be great if you could share any other AdSense tip with us. Needless to mention, your questions are always welcome.

Thank you.

Learn a few very basic things that you should know if you’re thinking of making money by putting Google AdSense ads on your blog or website.

Lately, I began paying attention to Google AdSense and how to use it to generate online income. For obvious reasons, people have a lot of interest in Google AdSense but what I have sensed is that most people are ignorant of many important aspects related with AdSense. This series of articles will tell you everything that you need to know to become a successful AdSense businessperson. In today’s article, I am going to discuss the basics of AdSense. I am sure, it would be very useful for the newbies.

What is AdSense?

Adsense is an ads serving program from Google Inc. The company started this program under its AdWord business. AdSense allows people owning a website to display Google ads on their websites and generate income from it. Website owners who display ads displayed by AdSense program are called publishers.

How does AdSense Work?

Google takes ads from advertisers around the world. Then these ads are shown on publishers’ websites via AdSense program. When a visitor to any of these websites click on a link given in the advertisement; Google gets revenue from the advertiser and it shares a portion of this revenue with the publisher. Clicks on different ads brings you different amounts of money depending on how much money Google is charging from that particular advertiser.

Google AdSense: A Newbie’s Guide

How to Use AdSense?

First of all, of course, you need to have a good website (a blog is also a website!) with good quality content available on it. If you already have a website, you can apply to get AdSense approval from Google. Upon receiving your application, Google’s automatic software will visit your website to see if it meets the criteria mentioned in the Google’s AdSense policy. Following are some of the points you need to keep in mind before applying for AdSense approval (these advices are based of Google’s policies):

Your website must be a top-level domain. That is to say that the address of the website that you are submitting for approval should look like www.example.com or johndoe.example.com. A website URL like www.example.com/johndoe will be rejected by AdSense

Language of the content on your website should be in the list of supported languages. Every languages is not supported by Google AdSense. For example, currently, English is supported but Hindi is not. (update on 10 December 2014: Hindi is now being supported by Google AdSense)
Website should have a decent amount of content. It should not be freshly made (a website running for a few months will make the cut)

Website content must not be copied from somewhere else on Internet. Google can detect plagiarism and will reject your application.

Website must not have pornographic material on it.
In case Google rejects your application, you can resubmit the application after resolving the issue cited in the rejection email you’ll receive. Try to resolve all the issues before resubmission because repeated resubmission could get your AdSense account blocked.

A few more important things that you need to know while setting up your Google AdSense account.
Remember, Google is fussy about changing your country if you later on want to change your address. I had an AdSense account approved when I used to live in the UK. Unsuspectingly, I had given my UK address to get the payment from Google. Later on when I moved to India and I tried to change my address from UK to India -Google refused to do so. Google AdSense, at present, does not change address with the new address located in certain countries. So, be careful about it. In such a case you’ll have to create a new account.

You’ll get the payment through bank transfer from Google only after you have accumulated at least $100 in your account. You can not ask Google to pay you an amount less than $100 that you have in your account. Also, Google does not pay through services like PayPal.

This is how you begin with Adsense. Once you have got your application approved -you can start displaying ads on your website. In my next article I will talk about tips to make money from these efforts.

Please let me know if you are facing any problem regarding Google AdSesne. I will try to be help you. Thank you.
